About
The Lennox Island Mi’kmaq Cultural Centre was officially opened on June 28, 2000, by the Honorable Governor General of Canada, Adrien Clarkson.
The center has interpretive displays that explain the history, culture, language, spirituality and religion of the Mi’kmaq through to the present day. These displays and the cultural center’s artifacts and photographs positively promote their history and customs. The Centre also features cross-cultural awareness programs and educational sessions.
The Lennox Island Mi’kmaq Culture Center serves as the community’s main point of access for community members to continue to learn the Mi’kmaq language. Spirituality, Culture, Traditional practices and the history of the Mi’kmaq through to the present day are also educational priorities for the center.
